What We Needed, So We Built It
Hi there, and welcome to our little corner of the internet! We created this blog to be a shared space for those who believe in the power of conversation, reflection, and community.
You’re not alone in your thoughts, feelings, or fears—we’re convinced of that. And soon, we can guarantee you will be too. This space exists to build common ground and to nurture a community that offers support, validation, education, and inspiration. Whether you come here just to read or you’d like to join us by responding, suggesting a topic, or being a guest blogger, you belong here.
We’re a trio: Two MSW candidates and a BSW professor. Together, we’re building a blog that reflects the real-life mess and meaning of life that will resonate with most of you. It’s also about finding meaning and learning as we move through our work in social work – a helping profession. It’s not about having all the answers or sounding like experts. It’s about curiosity, honesty, and growth.
Here, you’ll find reflections on day-to-day practice, fieldwork moments, professor and practitioner insights, and guest voices from across the profession. We talk about the things that no one says in class or is too scared to share. We reveal the stories you carry home, the ethical gray zones, the emotional landmines, the “WTF am I doing?” moments, and the “Wow, I was made for this” ones, too.
This is not a textbook. This is not supervision. This is unfiltered vulnerability. Expect confessions, reflections, real talk, and tools for surviving the in-between.
Whether you’re a student trying to keep it all together, a new or seasoned practitioner, or someone simply curious, this blog is for you.
Because in this work and this blog, we leave shame at the door to make room for being human.
